What it is
A contemporary art archive that is dedicated to preserving the creative timelines and artistic work of exceptional artists. Set up as a chronological collection of large format prints and ephemera, the archive documents the development and evolution of each artist’s practice over time and allows viewers to observe an artist’s work from a unique perspective.
Why it exists
To document and preserve the creative evolution of extraordinary artists
To present contemporary art in rural and isolated areas
To offer accessible ways in which the public can view, interact with, and collect art.
How does it work
Every invited artist is given a space in the archive.
Each year, artists gradually fill their space and build their presence within the archive by submitting a selection of their most significant recent work. As the years progress, these contributions accumulate to form a living record of each participant’s creative timeline and the evolution of their practice. Every piece submitted to the archive is carefully documented and preserved as an archival quality print. As the collection grows, the archive is made accessible in different ways. Viewing rooms, traveling presentations, exhibitions, and the release of artist editions encourage public interaction with the project and allow for artists to experiment with new ways in which they present themselves and reach new audiences.
